Final degree piece, BA (Hons) Digital Screen Arts, University for the Creative Arts 2009.
Digital photographic composite on wallpaper. 5 x 4.4 metres.
Exhibited at James Hockey Gallery, University for the Creative Arts at Farnham and Perranzabuloe Museum, Cornwall.

Made up of over 1000 individual photographs, composited over a space that is 4.4 metres tall and 5 metres wide, this vast photo-collage brings together close-up images of textures and details to create one single coherent image of a landscape. Each individual photograph represents a snapshot or a moment from one’s memory, each one playing an important and integral role in creating the larger image. The intention being that this ‘piecing together’ of moments acts as a reflection of the disjointed nature of memory, and the way in which one draws on these fragmented and disparate instance to create a single personal entity in an attempt to control, order and preserve.

“As historical artifacts residing in the present, these photographs have therefore come to represent not their subject but rather the spectre of an impossible desire: the desire to remember and be remembered” – Geoffrey Batchen

Many thanks to Perranzabuloe Museum and the Perranzabuloe Rotarians for their kind and generous support with this project.
